Lost migrations
Sultanas Dream, Seabirds and Rest in Paper

Lost Migrations is a three-part animated anthology which explores the memory, loss and trauma that accompanied the Partition of British India, through the voices of the colonised. Each 6–8-minute episode focuses on a community that has been excluded from South Asian historiography: women, the stateless and the diaspora.

Admission free, walk in

Venue: Room B103, the Brunei Gallery, opposite the main entrance to SOAS.
22 September 17:00 - 19:00

Project Dastaan is a team of creatives based in India, Pakistan and the UK founded by Sparsh Ahuja, Sam Dalrymple and Saadia Gardezi. The VR experience ‘Child of Empire’ uses virtual reality technology to engage with themes related to South Asian communities in the UK, the legacy of partition, and overlapping experiences and trajectories.

22 September 19:00-21:00 PM

At the 75th anniversary of partition Border Crossings and Project Dastaan invite you to a night of sensory experience and immersion at the Brunei Gallery Buildings, SOAS on 22nd September 2022.

This mushaira will bring together voices of the multiverse which challenge and defy religious majoritarianism and highlight how communities have continued to exist in multiple and overlapping ways in South Asia and the diaspora.

This event will showcase talent and creativity reflecting continuing connections and resistances which strive to challenge communal discourses on the partition seeking to separate and emphasize difference and discord. It will draw on rich and diverse forms of poetry, music and spoken word from South Asia and the diaspora which are the foundations for alternative visions of the multiverse.

With performers Babar Luck, Moushumi Bhowmik , DJ Shahrukh, Nabihah Iqbal, Rasika Ajotikar and SOAS student contributions and Project Dastaan.
